The European and Development Programs Division of the Ministry of Interior & Administrative Reconstruction and the International Organization for MigrationOffice in Greece are organizing three day event on “Assisted Voluntary Return. A comprehensive approach as part of the Greek Migration Management”. The purpose of the event is the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise on the migration management focusing on assisted voluntary returns of third country nationals to their countries of origin.

The EEA Grants and Norway Grants represent the contribution of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein to reduce economic and social disparities and to strengthen bilateral relations with 16 EU countries in Central and Southern Europe. Since the establishment of the EEA Agreement in 1994, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein have provided funding to reduce social and economic disparities in the European Economic Area.

Participants for the three days’ event will include the Secretary General of Citizen Protection of the Ministry of Interior & Administrative Reconstruction Mr Tzanetos Filippakos and HE Sjur Larsen the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Greece. High level officials from the Hellenic Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction will participate as well as the Hellenic Ministry of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping, the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Secretariat for Information and Communication, Consular Authorities of 12 Countries of origin, as well as the IOM Chiefs of Missions in Oslo and Athens and representatives from the Norwegian Embassy. The Norwegian delegation will be comprised by experts from the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration, the Norwegian Police Immigration Service and the Norwegian Crime Investigation Service. Finally, Directors from Public Services, representatives from NGOs and migrant organizations will participate in the event. Civil society will also have the opportunity to participate and share their experience, views and opinions

The event will contribute to improvement to strengthen bilateral relations and mostly to enhance knowhow on migration management.
